Kevin Flournoy, producer, keyboardist, songwriter, and “re-arranger” for projects all over the world, is passionate about creating timeless music across many genres, including jazz, classical, inspirational, R&B, reggae, and alternative rock. With his incredible ear for music and focus on “the basics” without forgetting the details, his musical accomplishments are unrestricted by any particular genre.
The list of people whom Kevin produced, written, performed, and recorded sounds like a “Who’s Who” of music and entertainment: Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick, Donny Osmond, The Pointer Sisters, Hillary Duff, Jamie Foxx, The Jazz Crusaders, Boney James, Kirk Whalum, Mindi Abair, Harvey Mason, and Ronnie Laws, to name a few. He has also provided music for several well-known TV shows, including American Idol, and The Roseanne Barr Talk Show. He produced a contemporary jazz record for saxophonist Ronnie Laws, Harvest for the World (Blue Note/Capital Records), and was recorded as a keyboardist on the latest Jazz Crusaders’ CD; and recently, he just completed work on the “All-Star Smooth Jazz Cruise 2008,” where he played keyboards for several shows backing smooth jazz artists Larry Carlton, Boney James, Norman Brown, and Paul Taylor.
Kevin’s first major label success as a producer, “Sweet Sensual Love” (single from Big Mountain’s album Unity) hit the Billboard’s Top 100 pop chart and was certified gold in Japan. A short time later, “Tengo Ganas,” yet another single cut from the album, created a stir resulting in equal acclaim in the Latino markets. Most recently, he was awarded a certified platinum record for his UK performances on tour with Donny Osmond. Kevin is currently recording his own solo project. He will be performing with Kaylene Peoples in the Indie Hotspot Silver Lake Jazz series, so come by and meet him in person.
